Stimmt es, daß Fußballerinnen eine männliche Ausstrahlung haben und viele von ihnen homosexuell veranlagt sind? Dies sind Fragen, die diese Arbeit versucht zu durchleuchten.

Der Männerfußball, einst Elitesport, wandelte sich im Lauf der Jahre zum Massensport. Heute wird er vornehmlich von Mitgliedern der unteren Mittel- und Unterschicht ausgeübt (Heinemann, 1998, S. 201). Über die Schichtenzugehörigkeit von Fußballerinnen sind bisher noch keine empirischen Untersuchungen durchgeführt worden. Diese Staatsexamensarbeit geht auch der Frage nach der sozialen Herkunft der fußballspielenden Frauen auf den Grund.

Um die oben genannten Fragen zu analysieren, wurde ein Fragebogen speziell für Fußballerinnen entwickelt. Dieser wurde in drei thematische Blöcke unterteilt. Der erste Teil fragt nach der Kinder- und Jugendzeit der Sportlerin, der zweite Teil befaßt sich mit der Zeit als Seniorin und in einem dritten Teil sollen demographische Fragen beantwortet werden. Die Auswertung dieses Fragebogens wird den größten Teil der Arbeit darstellen.

Doch bevor die empirische Studie dargelegt wird, sind einige Grundlagen zu erläutern. Zum einen die Sozialisation von Frauen im game, zum anderen die Geschichte des Frauenfußballs und dessen supplier. Leider ist das Thema „Frau und recreation“ in der Literatur noch längst nicht ausreichend durchleuchtet worden. Auch zum „Frauenfußball“ findet guy nicht besonders viele Autoren, die sich diesem Thema annehmen.

Nach den Grundlagen wird der Kern der Arbeit, die explorative Studie zum Frauenfußball, dargestellt und diskutiert.
